E. Michael Lewieck , MD is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of New Mexico School of Medicine
and Director of New Mexico Clinical Research & Osteoporosis Center. He is a consultant in osteoporosis and
metabolic bone disease, supervisor and interpreter of bone density studies at his center, and an educator with a special interest in the management of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. He is principal investigator for the center’s osteoporosis clinical trials and author of many peer-reviewed scientific publications on osteoporosis and bone densitometry. Dr. Lewiecki is past-president of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). He is a
faculty member for the ISCD educational programs in bone densitometry and vertebral fracture assessment, and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Densitometry.
Dr. Michael McClung is the founding director of the Oregon Osteoporosis Center. Dr. McClung is an internationally
recognized expert in the fields of osteoporosis and bone density testing. His Center has been involved in many of the important clinical studies that resulted in the availability of the medications now used to treat osteoporosis and Paget's disease of bone. He has published numerous papers and book chapters and is co-editor of a book for clinicians about disorders of bone and mineral metabolism. Dr. McClung is widely known as an educator, translating clinical research information into practical strategies of evaluation and treatment for other physicians. He is currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Osteoporosis Foundation, and as a medical advisor for the Paget Foundation, and has recently been appointed as a member of the Council of Scientific Advisors for the International Osteoporosis Foundation.
