Biological science and engineering are complementary disciplines which have independently brought about significant advances to clinical and biomedical sciences in recent times. In this post-genomic era, applying engineering principles in the studies of cellular and molecular phenomena is increasingly recognized as instrumental to further extend the boundaries of understanding complex medical and biological systems, to advance healthcare technologies and drug discovery activities.
