Antibody engineering emerged in a progression of groundbreaking experiments during the 1980s. This year's keynote speaker, Dr. Ira Pastan, published on the first therapeutic single-chain Fv fusion protein in June 1989. In 1990 the first IBC International Conference on Antibody Engineering was held, and it has since become a keystone event, with its sophistication keeping abreast of the singular advances in antibody engineering. The 18th International conference continues this tradition with an preeminent array of scientists selected by the Scientific Advisory Board. Speakers will discuss their latest, far-reaching investigations on antibody engineering, recombinant antibody and immunofusion therapeutics, and B and T cell immunology and related immunotherapy. Also included are methodological advances in molecular design and library manipulation, and critical progress on single scaffold binding proteins, which were spawned from antibody engineering. The meeting is scientifically sponsored by The Antibody Society, which underscores its role as a forum for the antibody engineering community.
