Regulatory and reimbursement issues will be addressed as they affect execution. A series of case histories of biomarkers will be covered, with a speaker for each phase of development, and a panelist commentary at the end.

The goal of drug development is to quickly and safely determine the safety and efficacy of NCEs/biologics and the target population that will benefit most from the new therapy. Within the past few years many new approaches have been developed to address this goal, e.g., adaptive trial design, Bayesian analysis, and the use of biomarkers.
